The Book of Numbers Chapter 2

The Book of Numbers

 Chapter 2

¹ The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying; ² The Israelites shall camp each in their respective regiments, under ensigns by their ancestral houses; they shall camp facing the tent of meeting on every side.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 1 to 2)

Oh God my Father wherever we may be either at home or abroad or at home, our focus is to be on you.  In every situation our question is always to be one 'How would Jesus have behaved in this situation, would He have been active or passive and then act accordingly. May You always be at the center of my life my God and Father Amen.

³ Those to camp on the east side toward the sunrise shall be of the regimental encampment of Judah by companies. The leader of the people of Judah shall be Nahashon son of Amminadab, ⁴ with a company as enrolled of seventy-four thousand six hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 3 to 4)

Oh God my Father, the regimental soldiers were the front-liners who would have the initial contact with the enemy. On reflecting I pray that if we decide to join this group, we would need to be really armed in the message of the 'Good News' for we do not need missiles, or cannons or guns, but the Word of God, who will march before us against the spiritual and even physical forces, of evil Amen.

⁵ Those to camp next to him shall be the tribe of Issachar. The leader of the Issacharites shall be Nethanel son of Zuar, ⁶ with a company enrolled of fifty four thousand four hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 5 to 6)

Oh God my Father, even though I am not physically as strong as others, I feel not that weak on a spiritual level. Even though I am still a sinner I pray that our relationship continues to improve so that I could be worthy of being on Your right side in the battle of life.

⁷ Then the tribe of Zebulun; The leader of the Zebulunites shall be Eliab son of Helon, ⁸ with a company as enrolled of fifty-seven thousand four hundred. ⁹ The total enrollment of the camp of Judah, by companies, is one hundred eighty-six thousand four hundred. They shall set out first on the march.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 7 to 9)

Oh when considering the total number of Christians in the world, I wonder which nation would be the first to march in the front line. Among the nations Brazil, Mexico and the Philippines would be the front liners on the battles grounds since such countries are top listed as having the largest number of Christian believers in their midst. Amen.

¹⁰ On the south side shall be the regimental encampment of Reuben by companies. The leader of the Reubenites shall be Elizur son of Shedeur, ¹¹ with a company as enrolled of forty-six thousand five hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 10 to 11)

Oh God my Father, how do we stand in our relationship with You, are we front liners ready for battle or are we back benchers taking it easy and relying on others.

¹² And those to camp next to him shall be the tribe of Simeon. The leader of the Simeonites shall be Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai, ¹³ with a company as enrolled of fify-nine thousand three hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 12 to 13)

Oh God my Father if we had to reflect we find images of ourselves in the twelve tribes of Israel in their relationship with You. The tribe of Simeon was a tribe that was scattered among other tribes. During our times we may also be scattered, for we are living among people who do not all have relationship with You and moreover they may not even still believe in You. Among such people I end up feeling a stranger. The language I speak is not always understood, because I hold the beliefs of the Good News, and moreover my behaviour seems strange, because it is not always like that of the world. However, I am happy to follow in Your ways my God and Father. Amen.

¹⁴ Then the tribe of Gad; The leader of the Gadites shall be Eliasaph son of Reuel, ¹⁵ with a company as enrolled of forty-five thosand six hundred fifty.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 14 to 15)

Oh God my beloved Father, may I  imitate the tribe of Gad in their obedience to You. I pray that in all the circumstances of my life, even when I do not understand I seek to obey Your will and not that of the world Amen.

¹⁶ The total enrollment of the camp of Reuben, by companies, is one hundred fifty-one thousand four hundred fifty. They shall set out second.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verse 16)

Oh God my beloved as in the case of Reuben we have our strong areas and we always have our weaknesses, however You still gave his company the second position during the march. I thank You oh God my Father, for even though my ways are not always according to Your ways, You still love me and give me the oportunity to be part of Your team in the quest of spreading the message of the Good News by means of this blog along with others who have also been given this noble task Amen.

¹⁷ The tent of meeting, with the camp of the Levites, shall set out in the center of the camps; they shall set out just as they camp, each in position, by their regiments.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verse 17)

Oh God my beloved Father, may You always be in the center of my camp. Presently we are on the march against the forces of evil which are attacking me from all sides. My wife and daughter are making my life a total misery, at work stress due to issues that concern me which I have no control over. My life has become so chaotic. I need You more than ever my God and Father. Please remain in the center and please remain in control of all the situations pending. I trust in You. Amen.

¹⁸ On the west side shall be the regimental encampment of Ephraim by companies. The leader of the people of Ephraim shall be Elishama son of Ammihud, ¹⁹ with a company as enrolled of forty thousand five hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 18 to 19)

Oh God my beloved Father, as all these groups of people found their energy and power from their midst where Your presence was manifested in the presence of the tabernacle as Your Church we are still marching in the pilgrimage of life and find our strength not in our numbers, and military strength but in You my God and Father Amen.

²⁰ Next to him shall be the tribe of Manasseh. The leader of the people of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel son of Pedahzur, ²¹ with a company as enrolled of thirty-two thousand two hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 20 to 21)

Oh God my beloved Father, even though we go to vote for this candidate or that, You have the authority to decide whom according to Your plan for our salvation is the appropriate person, even though the elected person for a period of time may be the cause of progress or  social injustice or hardship.

²² Then the tribe of Benjamin; The leader of the Benjaminites shall be Abidan son of Gideoni, ²³ with a company as enrolled of thirty-five thousand four hundred. ²⁴ The total enrollment of the camp of Ephraim, by companies, is one hundred eight thousand. They shall set out third on the march.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 22 to 24)

Oh God my Father, my life is always on the march in Your spiritual army. My role is that of a sniper, targeting selected targets that You assign me to shoot with bullets of love and care that bring life instead of death Amen. I pray that You continue to use me my God and Father Amen.

²⁵ On the north side shall be the regimental encampment of Dan by companies. The leader of the Danites shall be Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai, ²⁶ with a company as enrolled of sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 25 to 26)

Oh God my Father the Tabernacle was protected from all sides as in the following link credit to Hannah Micheals the author of this article which I invite you to click on.

The encampment around the Tabernacle

²⁷ Those to camp next to him shall be the tribe of Asher. The leader of the Asherites shall be Pagiel son of Ochran, ²⁸ with a company as enrolled of forty-one thousand five hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 27 to 28)

Oh God my beloved Father, apparently the tribe of Asher proclaimed their faith in You, however when it came to be put to the test, they failed to overcome the challenge placed before them. I pray that in my time of trial, You help me pass the test Amen.

²⁹ Then the tribe of Naphtali: The leader of the Naphtalites shall be Ahira son of Enan, ³⁰ with a company as enrolled of fifty-three thousand four hundred.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 29 to 30)

Oh God my Father, we are to imitate the tribe of Naphtali in their positive aspects keeping in mind that they were key believers and circle of Moses's support group, in the sense that they championed the commandments, however even though publicly we proclaim Your name our lifestyles may not always reflect what we live in our inner circles Amen.

³¹ The total enrollment of the camp of Dan is one hundred fifty-seven thousand six hundred. They shall set out last by companies. ³² This was the enrollment of the Israelites by their ancestral houses; the total enrollment in the camps by their companies was six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty. ³³ Just as the LORD had commanded Moses, the Levites were not enrolled among the other Israelites. ³⁴ The Israelites did just as the LORD had commanded Moses: They camped by regiments, and they set out the same way, everyone by clans, according to ancestral houses.

(The Book of Numbers Chapter 2 verses 29 to 30)

Oh God my blessed and beloved Father, You have given us rules and ways of life that we are to follow. Your Holy Spirit continues to strengthen and update such rules by means of the Pope Francesco and other people in the Roman Catholic Church and even in other churches in order to bring revival and updates to the World as one big family. May we be a battalion of warriors fighting the same war with the same aim of conquering our sinful selves in order that You can take over the emptiness of sin and fill it with the power of Your Holy Spirit Amen.

Oh God my blessed Father, I would like to end this second chapter of the book of Numbers with the following prayer;

Oh my blessed Father, today I pray that we become united as the body of Christ on earth, not only the Roman Catholic Church but even all the other churches. I pray that the Holy Spirit brings a spirit of enlightenment where dialogue can be present, apologies can be expressed and a new spirit of unity can unite us into one battalion of spiritual warriors for Jesus Amen.
